Our Wine Classes

Wine classes are a fun and educational way to entertain business clients, raise funds for your organization, or train your restaurant staff. Wine Basics is our most popular class because it provides all the information you need to begin your lifelong explorarion of wine. Once you've mastered the basics, Wines by the Class is here to help further your education in whatever direction you want to go--whether it be the wines of Italy or learning more about Cabernet Sauvigon from around the world.

Below is a sampling of what a course can offer you. If you don't see a class that meets your needs, please call us at (814) 574-7868 and ask about how your class can be customized.

Generally, classes feature 90 minutes of tasting of and instruction on 6 different wines, literature, glassware, bread, and tasting note sheets.

  • The Beginner

Do you define yourself as someone who doesn't drink wine? Has your past experience turned you off from drinking wine? Maybe you just didn't have a good first experience. Do you like wine coolers but find you just don't care for wine? If you are interested in wine but are not sure that you'll like it, this is the class for you. There is no doubt that wine is an acquired taste and this is a good way to start acquiring it! This class will help you get started on the path to wine appreciation and enjoyment. • The Basics

Tired of aimlessly walking the wine store aisles, ending up with a wine you chose based on the attractiveness of the label? Figure out what you really like by taking this class. Taste and learn about the six major grape varietals - Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. You will learn the differences between the wines made from these grapes, when would be the time to drink them and with what foods, and a little bit about where they are grown and produced. • The Budget Buy

Like to drink wine but don't want to spend top dollar? In this class we will taste and learn about wines that fit into anyone's budget. Click here for pricing info
  • The Varietal

Have you found that you love Pinot Noir, but don't know much about the grape and where it is grown? Or have you always wanted to spend some quality time with Cabernet Sauvignon but just haven't found a way to fit it in? This class offers you an opportunity to focus on one grape variety - taste Pinot Noirs from Oregon, Washington and Burgundy. Or, perhaps you would like to see the difference between California Cabernet and the famous wines of Bordeaux. The design of this class is limited only by your interests and imagination. • The Geographical

What's the big deal about Burgundy? Or Bordeaux? Napa Valley? Or Long Island? Chile, Spain, Australia…or even Pennsylvania? Choose a geographical region and we will explore the wines produced there by taking a virtual tasting tour. We will consider geography, climate, terroir, and history as we taste wines from one particular viticultural region. Click here for pricing information
  • Wine and Cheese

This class is designed to help us understand the associations between wine and cheese and why it is such a classic combination. What cheese to serve with what wine? Whether you are planning a reception for 20 or a picnic for two, pairing the right wine and cheese can turn an ordinary event into something spectacular.

You can choose a country that interests you and learn about the wine they produce...

...or choose to learn about a particular grape...the possibilities are endless.
